I know this game is old and most of you won't care about it. Either way, be sure to flip the Allowed switch to ON, as in (this pic) The Witcher should already be in your Application Access list. To make it more confusing, this did not start happening until I had played WEE for over 40 hours. In my case it was a "feature" of Bitdefender that was blocking WEE from saving as an "unsafe application". I won't go into detail on those since they are covered elsewhere and can be found with a search. The block could be a read-only save directory, a permissions issue with the directory, or anything else that blocks that save.

The basic problem is that if Windows 10 blocks WEE from saving the program does not have a graceful way to recover. I am posting it here so others can find the answer more easily. Maybe because the game is old and such comments have dropped off many forums, or the problem might be due to more recent changes to BitDefender. I recently had this problem and it took me a while to find the answer.
